Most day centres have some element of open access, and many combine this with more structured support particularly focusing on homeless individuals but also supporting those with chaotic and unstable accommodation.

Day centres open welcome restbite and access to vital services which may include things like: hot breakfast and lunch, showers, laundry, clothing, a quiet room, hairdressing, GPs, mental health care, a mental health team, podiatrist, optician, pastoral care, befriending. They also often provide advice on how to access: night shelters, hostels, benefits, identification documents, form filling, debt counselling, entitlements, finding appropriate help.
