Access a Childrens Centre

What do children centre's offer?

Children's Centre services in Northamptonshire offer a range of support to families of children from birth to 5 years old, when your child joins reception class at primary school. They are available to everyone and are delivered by the Northamptonshire Libraries and Information Service (NLIS).

Information and advice
During opening hours libraries can give information about a wide range of services, including childcare and help with looking for a job. If they cannot give the support that your family needs they will help you to contact the people that can.

Activities
Activities include children's stories, songs and rhymes groups, as well as welcome events for new parents. Some of these activities will run at weekends, making it easier for working parents to attend with their children.

Extra help for families                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               You may also be able to take advantage of a range of services including parenting courses, family learning groups, early learning activities and one to one family support. If you think you may benefit from these extra help services, please speak to your health visitor, midwife, family support worker or social worker.

How do I register for Children's Centre services?

Inform us of any changes

If you have previously registered for Children’s Centre Services and would like to register a new child or make changes to your personal details then please complete and submit the change of details via the online form.

How do I make a referral?

Anyone can make a generic referral into a children’s centre. Most Children’s Centres either have details about referring on their websites or you can ring for a form. The idea is that they are a universal service so all families with under 5's can access what they offer.

Health support:

Health services, such as ante-natal and post-natal support from midwives and health visitor scans can be accessed in Children's Centres across the county. Parents can find out details and make appointments where necessary via their Health Centre or the health professional working with them by contacting a Children's Centre.
