Northamptonshire Countywide Traveller Unit

The countywide Traveller Unit (CTU) is a single body that manages gypsy and traveller related issues on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council and local bourough and district councils with the exception of East Northamptonshire Council.

Mission Statement

"To provide Travelllers and settled communities across the county, a multi-agency approach to support and enforcement that fosters good relations, and in which the rights and responsibilities of all the communities are respected."

Responsibilities of the CTU

The CTU brings together a multi disciplinary team to deal with issues this includes:

  • Providing a one stop point of access for the public, businesses, agencies and travellers
  • Management of unauthorised encampments on all public land
  • Providing advice and guidance to private land owners and if requested, initiating legal proceedings at the land owner's expense
  • Aiming to reduce problems associated with encampments by tackling anti-social behaviour and unaccepatble behaviour

Northamptonshire Gypsy & Traveller Floating Support Service

Northamptonshire Gypsy & Traveller Floating Support Service is part of Central & Cecil (now incorporating CARA Irish Housing Association.)

The service is available to Gypsey and Traveller people currently living in authorised and unauthorised sites and those in bricks and mortar accommodation within the area of Northamptonshire who are experiencing one or more of the following problems:

  • Alcohol and Drugs
  • Anti Social Behaviour
  • Depression
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Family Difficulties Immigration
  • Birth certificate and Passport issues
  • Mental Health Issues
  • Neighbour dispute offending
  • Physical health issues
  • Problems with housing benefit or council tax
  • Rent arrears or debts
  • Site allocation problems
  • Threat of homelessness and welfare benefits

Open hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
